The core curriculum provides a solid foundation in the areas of contract law, torts, professional ethics, criminal procedure, and legal research and writing. You also have the opportunity to focus on specific areas of interest by taking elective coursework in the areas of litigation, wills, trusts and estates, real estate, family law, criminal law, and international law.

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Legal Studies prepares you for success in both law school and for careers in legal assisting, paralegal, and other law-related professions with a rigorous curriculum designed to provide you with necessary critical thinking, writing and research skills, as well as an in-depth understanding of the entire legal system, including the court system, clients, and lawyers. You also have the opportunity to focus on specific areas of interest by taking elective coursework in the areas of litigation, wills, trusts and estates, real estate, family law, criminal law, and international law.

Admission Requirements

Submit a Complete Florida Common Application and satisfy all applicable university admission requirements (below).

  • AA graduates from Florida College System Institutions or State Universities (Upper-Level Transfer).
  • AA degree has been awarded and posted on official college transcript.
  • Completed at least 60 transferrable hours and the general education requirement, excluding courses not accepted by the university.
  • Have an overall 2.0 GPA in all courses attempted as calculated by the university.
  • Completed 2 college-level courses in both English and math with a grade of C or higher.
  • AA graduates from non-Florida or private institutions (Upper-Level Transfer).
  • Have 60 or more transferrable credit hours, excluding courses not accepted by the university.
  • Have an overall 2.0 GPA in all courses attempted as calculated by the university.
  • Completed 2 college-level courses in both English and math with a grade of C or higher.
  • Satisfy common prerequisites with a grade of C or better.
  • Satisfy general education program requirements.
  • Sign an Advising Agreement document.
